Petros Kaseke

I am the eldest in a family of 5 children. I took on the role of being a parent at a very young age, as my parents often had to travel to neighbouring countries selling goods, to try support us. I lived at a copper mining town in Harare, Zimbabwe, where I completed my O’ & A’ Level (equivalent to year 10 and 12). I furthered my education by completing a diploma in Applied Art and Design at Chinhoyi University, Zimbabwe.

Unfortunately the mine closed down, so I moved to Harare. Art had always been my passion, but due to financial constraints, I had to put it on hold. I worked as a security guard at a cotton company, and a general worker at a pottery company to make ends meet.

But I felt as though I was neglecting my gift of art, so decided to pursue a profession in art.
Inspired by everyday life, my art work comprises of forms of wildlife, figures, landscapes and abstract. I do these using oil paintings, pastels, batiques and carvings. I struggle to gain all the materials I need for my art.

I have exhibited my art at the following galleries:
- VERANDOR GALLERY 2001
- STUDIO GALLERY 2003
- SHAMWARI GALLERY 2005
- MASVINGO GALLERY 2007
